Born and raised in France, Thierry Despont is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts and holds a Masters degree in Urban Design and City Planning from Harvard University. "Architecte DPLG", Despont is a knight of the French Legion of Honor and a knight of the Arts and Letters. Based in New York City, he is the co-author of Restoring the Statue of Liberty Houses, a collection of his residential projects, and Le Bateau Ivre, a folio of his drawings illustrating Arthur Rimbaud's poem, "Le Bateau Ivre". Colours of Galaxies

A galaxy is a huge collection of gas, dust and billions of stars and their solar systems. A galaxy is held together by gravity. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, also has a supermassive black hole in the middle. When you look up at the stars in the night sky, you're seeing other stars in the Milky Way. If it's really dark, far away from lights from cities and houses, you can even see the dusty bands of the Milky Way stretch across the sky.  Some galaxies are spiral-shaped like ours. They have curved arms that make it look like a pinwheel. Our galaxies are smooth and oval shaped. They're called elliptical galaxies, and there are also galaxies that aren't spirals or ovals. They have irregular shapes and look like blobs. The light that we see from each of these galaxies comes from the stars inside it. Sometimes galaxies get too close and smash into each other. Acrylic Pouring Evaluation

Acrylic Pouring On Friday 9th November, I tried Acrylic Pouring for the very first time. It was fun, but I didn't really create what I imagined in my mind. The first acrylic pouring I did was extremely lacking, but then again it was my first and I got to grips with the technique pretty fast. At first I thought I had put too much paint into the tubs (first picture above), but soon realised that actually I hadn't put enough for what I really wanted to do, and thus I didn't create a big piece but actually it was rather small due to lack of paint and glue mixture. The solution we used to mix with the paint was PVA Glue mixed with water, which then made the acrylic paint more like liquid and so it was easier to pour. The images above are of the first Acrylic Pouring that I created. I used the colours Cobalt Blue and Phthalo Green, which I then mixed with the glue solution.
